When the German Cyclists’ Association (ADFC) is so impressed by the Liebliches Taubertal cycle route that it has awarded it the highest distinction of 5 stars for 15 years, that really says something! Ideal for leisure cyclists, it runs for over 100 km on well-developed, mostly flat paths, following the river upstream through the Tauber Valley. It’s well worth taking a few extra breaks here to enjoy the local cuisine and the region’s charming hospitality.

Altmühl cycle route

The cycle route through the Altmühl Valley is hugely popular with cyclists. Over more than 200 kilometres, starting in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, you follow the gently flowing Altmühl all the way to the Danube in Kelheim. Marvel at impressive rock formations in the Franconian Jura and explore varied landscapes with juniper heaths and lush meadows. The “Radschmetterling” combines four circular routes totalling 250 kilometres through Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
